Alison Michaels can't help wishing she were part of the "in" group at school. It would be so much fun hanging out with pretty, popular Carolyn Dennison's crowd. But Carolyn and her friends ignore Alison completely -- until Alison's parents install a swimming pool in their backyard .

Suddenly Carolyn can't do enough for Alison. She even tells Alison that she's broken up with her boyfriend Jeff, and she's sure Alison and Jeff would make a great couple. Jeff seems to think so, too, and after a few dates, Alison's sure she's really in love.

But then she sees Jeff and Carolyn together again -- and it doesn't look as if they've broken up at all. Have they just been putting on a big act so they can spend the summer cooling off in the only pool in town?
