Jo Ann Brady meets Major Chuck Brooks in a cemetery while they're both there to place flowers on their spouses' graves. An immediate attraction between them results in a one-night stand - or so Jo Ann thinks. Chuck can't reveal he's on a mission to Columbia to assist the government with a notorious drug cartel. He's wounded, but returns to Jo Ann a month later and their romance blooms. She introduces Chuck to Doctor Sid Bleu, the Chief of Surgeons where she works as a nurse. Sid meets Lieutenant Maria O'Shea, a helicopter pilot, and the two couples became friends. Jo Ann and Sid are faced with a dilemma: Chuck and Maria are Special Forces and are routinely sent around the world on dangerous missions, leaving Jo Ann and Sid behind.
