Nine-year-old Emily Crump has lived in a trailer most of her life. She and her parents travel from town to town. They never stay anywhere long enough for Emily to go to a real school or make friends her own age.

Now the trailer has broken down in the most beautiful place Emily has ever seen. She names it "the Green Circle" and knows in her heart that her family should stay there forever. But someone already owns the land.
