Elsie and the Hurricane — Linda Baten Johnson

Death and Destruction arrived with the Galveston Hurricane of 1900. Elsie Drummond's eleventh birthday is a date she'll always remember. The day started with presents and cake and ended with death and destruction. Elsie's mother escorts the birthday guests home as the storm begins to gain intensity. When she doesn't return, Elsie faces the hurricane and its aftermath alone. The young girl never abandons her search for her parents and makes choices which change the path of her life.
