Eclipse of the Heart — Ronald Tierney

Zach Grayson is a gay, middle-aged San Franciscan author of cookbooks. Over the years, he's retreated into a self-contained, passionless, and--as he realizes during the course of this adventure--lonely existence. Into his life comes Manny. Much to Zach's surprise, Manny convinces him to travel with him to Mexico. Manny is an agent of sorts, assigned to get close to Zach; further instructions will follow. In Mexico, Manny is kidnapped when he attempts a rendezvous with his contact. Zach meets the contact, a teenage street urchin named Sali, and promptly falls in love. The pair searches for Manny while eluding the organization that kidnapped him.
