Dhillon, son of a reputable family of Punjab, India, is forced to flee his cherished motherland when the pranks of his school days escalate into serious conflict with the son of a family in power, the Cheemas. Predisposed to hate America, he obsesses to return home, but gets in trouble when a visiting singer, a Cheema agent, is shot in a scuffle with Dhillon and his cohorts at a Sikh Temple. His erstwhile school education is found to be worthless and he enrolls in the State University. His goal: make money quickly and take on his enemies who continue to chase him in the U.S.A. He abandons school when he's attacked by skinheads. After trying his luck in farming and trucking, he ends up owning a retail outlet, with the assistance of Malik, a Pakistani man. During the trip to Punjab for his marriage, his wedding reception is attacked by hired bandits, ratcheting up his confrontation with his enemies. He escapes through Pakistan, staying a week with Malik in Lahore, where he finds that his year-old friend belongs to a cell associated with the intelligence agency I.S.I. opening up a realm of possibilities.
