Dust Storms Across the Mesa — Susan Squires

Reaching into his closet, Sean grabbed his kite and ran out the back door dragging the tail of the kite. His little sister followed close behind. "What was that? Where is the kite?" asked Ella looking around as dust devils rose all around them, obscuring their vision. "Ella. What happened to the playground, the fence, the houses, the road, the cars? Ella Where are we?" This begins the adventure of Sean and Ella as ancient travelers come through a mysterious dust storm and give Sean a golden amulet on a chain.. Old Nita, tells them, "It was given to you for a reason. You have a rare and powerful gift. Use it wisely." When Ella becomes lost, Sean uses his gift and his talents to rescue her.
