As a visiting professor at one of Canada's most prestigious conservatories, Marina Prohaska had expected to spend the year teaching and performing with the chamber music ensemble. She had no desire to go on tour -- especially with a conceited, infuriating man like Adam Fletcher. From the first moment she saw him, Marina detested everything about him -- the way he stole a kiss on stage, the way he snubbed the other musicians, the way his smoky dark eyes hid all emotion.

But when Marina performed with Adam Fletcher, they were hailed as an outstanding pair. Their duet was the talk of the season! Somehow, Adam managed to push her to new heights of emotion on stage. When Marina performed with Adam, pure tones floated from her silver flute like a mountain stream flowing from a hidden source. And the answering music that rose from his cello was seductive, embracing...captivating.

In concert with Adam, Marina surrendered to the music with rapturous abandon. They would be joined in a musical union -- but they could never share a lover's union. Marina had lost her heart once, and she was still healing from the aftermath. Her heart would beat in time to the music. Her emotions would soar with each crescendo. Her fingers would dance enticingly through each duet. And with each note, she would long for the love that could never be.
