Esmond Ross was a widower. He ran his house and practice with the ordered routine of a gentleman's club with very little time for women, especially women doctors. When his new assistant arrived, he was appalled to find that “Frankie” Cunningham was in fact “Francesca”, young, attractive and wearing a black ski suit that was most unsuitable for a doctor's private practice. Francesca immediately attracted by the taciturn Dr. Ross, found she had to prove herself as a doctor as well as a woman.
