When planning her vacation, Georgia magistrate MacLare Yarbrough envisioned a tropical isle where she and h husband would be concerned with nothing but sunbathing, snorkeling, and a stack of good books. Instead Mac--minus her husband--is bound for chilly Scotland. But she has her friend Laura to keep things interesting, not to mention a tour group full of unusual travelmates and a chance to stay in Auchnagar, the small village where her ancestors lived.

But maybe a little boredom would have done MacLaren good. When two empty coffins mysteriously appear in Auchnagar's church--although none of the locals have died--things take turn for the macabre. And when the bodies of one, and then another, American are discovered occupying the coffins, MacLaren finds herself back on the job. Can she tie it all together before she winds up in a coffin of her own?
