Someone is killing DC cab drivers, and the authorities are looking in all the wrong places for the killer. Al's friend, DC police detective Buster Mayweather enlists the aid of the ace PI to help him get to the bottom of the mystery. The two friends find themselves in a bottomless pit of community apathy, bureaucratic indifference, and dangerous greed as they confront diamond smugglers and murderous con men in one of Al Pennyback's most complex cases.
