Out of the Black Hills of the Dakota Territory the raw mining town of Deadwood exploded. During the bustling summer of 1876 a brave and colorful troupe of theatrical performers arrives by stage to cash in on the boomtown wealth. Suddenly, they are swept into the deadly drama about to be played out on the streets of Deadwood -- side by side with the legendary Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickok.

As ruthless gambling-hall owner Johnny Varnes plots to take control of this rough, teeming town, he finds his schemes obstructed by two tough opponents, stage owner Tom Murdock and Wild Bill. Varnes's simple -- and vicious -- solution is to remove both adversaries with a bullet. Trapped in the middle of the battle is the beautiful actress Ellen Dorsey, whose growing love for Murdock and compassion for the victims of Varnes's brutality leads her to an act of heroism that could prove to be the difference between life and death in Deadwood.
