People think guardian angels are cherubs. Or beautiful heavenly creatures who jump to the rescue when things get out of control for people on earth. They're not.
Think of guardian angels like this: Classic 21 Jump Street...with angels...who solve murders...before they happen.
When Addison Karchusky walks into Taco Blast, she wants one thing: a job. Unfortunately, a ghost gets in the way. Seeing ghosts in nothing new for Addison. She tells them to go to the light, and poof, away they go. But this ghost is horror actress Sharlene Gallagher who disappeared over a decade ago and is presumed dead. And she's no regular ghost. She talks to Addison. Sharlene wants Addison to help solve her murder so she can go to light.
Sharlene doesn't tell Addison the truth. She's not a ghost. She's a guardian angel, and she's been sent back to Primrose because the person who killed her is set to kill Addison next. Solving her own murder will save Addison and earn Sharlene a place as a guardian angel. Easy right?
Well, maybe...if not for the tests her boss Peter keeps throwing her way. And then there's free will. Who knew free will would be a problem for an angel?
Of course, if Sharlene focused on the case alone, maybe the guardian angel gig would be a little easier. But what fun would that be? Makeover maven and matchmaker queen shouldn't be a problem for someone with her connections. It might help if her makeover matchmaking didn't result in throwing her charge into the arms of a possible killer.
If Sharlene's going to make it as part of The Guardian, she's got a lot to learn. And if she doesn't learn, well, dead girl simply dead wasn't so bad.
Who's she kidding? It was awful.
Dead Girl Walking, The Guardian Book 1 by Mary Beth Lee starts the Sharlene Gallagher mystery series, a series enjoyed by people of all ages.
