Under other circumstances, Jessica James -- Jessie, to her friends -- would relish the chance to spend some time in a historic Victorian mansion, with a gorgeous businessman for company. But Jessie is in Eagle's Nest for professional reasons, and the hunk in question is suspected of embezzlement. Nolan Beringer seems like such a honest, straightforward kind of guy -- but then, if criminals always acted guilty, they'd be a lot easier to catch.
Jessie's accounting background makes her the perfect paralegal to assist attorney Phillip Lang in his investigation of bankrupt Eagle Manufacturing. But when Phillip is called back to Chicago unexpectedly, it is up to Jessie to run the show -- and find out where all the money has gone. Her trusting nature has gotten her into trouble in the past, so she does her best to remain objective. Her heart seems to have a mind of its own, however, and it says that Nolen can't be guilty. Could her heart be wiser than her head, or is she simply blinded by love?
