As far as Fleur was concerned, Justin McVee seemed fated to turn up at all the most inopportune and ridiculously compromising moments, and consequently, he had a very poor idea of her character. When he found her beside the body of Godfrey Frome, whom they both hated, he appeared to believe Fleur had killed him, but strangely enough, he insisted on providing her with an alibi. It wasn't until later she realized that in doing so, he was also providing himself with one. But by that time she was too much in love to worry about anything except his safety.
