EXCERPT

Milo walked her inside and through the entire house, which was already partially furnished by someone with great taste.

We'll have to get some of this same furniture, if we take this, she thought. Milo began playing the knowledgeable and funny tour guide. He was doing accents and characters, sometimes snotty, sometimes pretending to hide the flaws of this flawless house, as he was taking her from sunny room to another.

It was a stunning place. She thought that Hollywood could film a modern western in the bright and sunny land around the house.

He held her close and completely tuned into her little fantasy. So they made love in the den, on the large couch that dominated the heavily carpeted room lush with lovely, well-tended plants and potted flowers.

“So, Milo, whose sofa are we defiling?” she asked, breathless, when their clothes were all scattered on the floor.

He laughed with her. But he didn't answer and just loved her. Their lovemaking was joyous and the sweetest, gentlest sex they'd ever shared. Her Milo always knew the right thing to do to heat her up and spin her heart around.

Afterwards, they talked about the house again. And he asked her if she wanted to live there with him.

“Ahh-mm. Yes. Yes, Milo. I want to live my life here, with you.”

He sighed deeply, like he'd been holding his breath. “I knew you'd love this place, too, Thalia. So, um, Babe, I already bought it. So it's our furnishings by a local interior decorator that we're defiling.”

She'd laughed so hard, she'd snorted.

“Oh, since this is our furniture...” She raced upstairs, and he chased her, to the master bedroom. Where they made love. Again.

Cuddling together afterward, her thoughts fell into alignment with her heart.

This is better than dying in the city.
