Private Investigator Katherine “Cash” Delaney and Defense Attorney Laura Bennett are best friends and partners who have worked together for years in Ithaca, New York. After the successful conclusion of a difficult case, Bennett is murdered in an act of revenge and Delaney is critically wounded. As she recovers, she makes a life-altering decision to seek a private solution for Bennett's untimely death. Along with her friend, Sarah Ehrenson, Delaney moves to the South, to the small southeastern town of Carolina Beach, North Carolina.
