Cowboy Carter — Charles Bowen

Carter Connor returns from Iraq to recover from his injuries. He dates Ronnie, a woman who runs the Internet radio station where he sings country music. His injuries return and Carter hears voices and reads thoughts. He drinks to drown his crazy and lands in a psychiatric prison where he's treated with disturbing pharmaceuticals. Now the voices are joined by hallucinations of mythic beasts feeding on an unaware penal population. When Carter leaves prison, the creatures follow and he battles beasts few can see.
