Solanna Richards always knew what she wanted in life. She knew that in order to have the lifestyle that she wanted sacrifices had to be made. It meant that things like love, marriage and children had to be put on hold.
Solanna meets a man named Donovan Price at a convention in L.A. The two have great chemistry and are both workaholics. After a brief affair at the convention, they begin to see one another to meet each other's physical needs.
Fifteen months into their “thing” Donovan proposes. Solanna turns him down, citing her career goals. Donovan explains that he loves her, and Solanna lies and tells him she doesn't feel the same way.
Broken hearted, Donovan returns home to Chicago after getting a job offer. Solanna is saddened by his departure, but figures it's all for the best. That is, until she realizes no other man seems to match up to Donovan in or out of the bedroom.
Two years later Solanna gets a phone call from her best friend Niesha, who announces she's getting married. Solanna returns to Chicago to be the maid of honor in her best friend's wedding. Feelings of regret surface when Solanna finds out that Niesha's fiancée is none other than Donovan, her former lover.
