Can a brand-new marriage withstand the weight of generations-old baggage?
Amelia and Marcus Sheffield are recent college grads and newlyweds, working hard to stay afloat in Los Angeles while they search for their dream jobs. Marcus seeks a pastoral position at a large multicultural city church. Amelia has an esteemed music degree from Juilliard, and longs to play piano professionally. The Sheffields are clearly city people.
But when a small church in an even smaller town offers Marcus a job, the couple's dedication to their dreams and to each other is tested. The decision they reach allows them to each pursue their individual passions, but eventually it leads Amelia to a dark emotional place, where she finds skeletons she couldn't believe were there. In a state of desperation, she calls out to God. But why can't she find him?
While Amelia struggles with her new reality, Marcus comes to a discovery of his own that leads him to question every major decision he's ever made -- and every hope he's had for his future. Now, he must reconcile his past choices with his identity in Christ. And he must do so before he loses his wife forever.
