They say you should never go back. Most people do, however, survive a peek at their childhood environs. But when globe-hopping British First Secretary Peter Darwin goes home, he not only risks his own hide, but those of others--including racehorses.
Darwin, on his way from Tokyo to a holiday in England, stops over in Miami, where he's caught in a mugging that leaves his two acquaintances battered. He accompanies them to their destination: Gloucestershire, England, Darwin's childhood home. Waiting for Darwin are long-hidden memories, a string of racehorse deaths, and homicide. Darwin soon realizes that the key to the dark events involves his own past -- a discovery that makes Darwin wish he'd never come back, because he just might never leave again...alive.
