Florence Brown is a burden to herself and to her actresssister, Phoebe. After Florence's one pitiful attempt at suicide, Phoebe persuades her to go to the nursing home in the country. But Florence does not trust her sister and runs off, straight into the arms of Mrs. Jolly, who offeres her a refuge. What happens then provides a spinetingling tale of suspense and murder.
