This book contains two novels by R. K. Laxman: The Hotel Riviera and The Messenger, and his autobiography, The Tunnel of Time.

The Hotel Riviera

This story revolves around the Hotel Riviera and the main characters are the author himself and the manager at Hotel Riviera. It is essentially the story of a middle-aged man who falls in love with a woman named Sabitha. He struggles to tell her about his feelings for her.

The Messenger

Shekar works in Bombay where his boss, Daya Sagar, runs a magazine. Daya s does other works are considered to be immoral and Shekar is dragged into all of it. Along the way, Shekar falls in love with his employer s daughter and they make a plan to elope. None of his plans work out and Shekar suffers many losses that leave him wiser and more mature than he used to be.

The Tunnel of Time

If you are a huge fan of R. K. Laxman and his works, then this book offers you the best way to get to know a little more about the cartoonist and writer. The book is basically a collection of memories and thoughts that are put across to us in the form of cartoon strips. It narrates his life in a very unusual way and through simple narration.
