Child of the Fall The first city Alieda encounters after she leaves L'Aberohn has been attacked by pirates, and she narrowly escapes being killed by Captain Decker, the pirate responsible for the wreckage, with the help of a member of a secret group called the Elite, who are sworn to protect Alieda on her journey. With his aid, she flees the city and ends up deep in the forest, where she encounters her new best friend, Gaia, a baby dragon. Alieda and Gaia are shortly thereafter introduced to Ehban, an immortal whose task it is to watch over Misten. From him, Alieda learns that a tyrant believed long dead, Lord Und'il, has been resurrected and is threatening Misten once again. She also discovers that she is able to use magic, a power lost in humans since the last fall of Und'il. Ehban and his companions instruct Alieda in her skills before she returns to her quest. As Alieda resumes her journey, she is once again attacked by Captain Decker. She defeats him but is wounded and ambushed by the rest of his men and is rescued by Braden, a human who has been adopted by dwarves and is unknowingly on the same journey as Alieda. Together, Braden and Alieda cross the southern half of Misten to find the woman, Surra, who instructs them on how to find the Oracle. Following her instructions, they travel through the Forest of the Dryads and deep into the Sea of Mists to finally arrive at the Tower of the Oracle where the truth behind Alieda's past and the path she must take in the future is finally revealed.
