The Dark Power of Hate
It was a chance meeting on a train that brought pretty Leslie Villiers to Warwick, the splendid old country house where George Harmon and his nine-year-old daughter Vicki lived. Leslie liked George and was happy to become his daughter's governess, but she found the house full of dark foreboding and strange people-of whom the strangest was Vicki herself. The little girl seemed old beyond her years, as if she had seen great suffering--or perhaps even inflicted it.
