Casey Cooper's Scout troop is preparing for the Scout Olympics. Casey isn't a great athlete and worries he won't be able to compete. Then Casey's father promises to help him practice for the free-style event. Suddenly, Casey's father is called out of town for work. Casey knows his father has an important job writing secret codes for the army, but Casey can't help feeling angry his dad broke his promise to help.
Eventually, Casey learns to draw on his own resources and, with his best friend, funny little sister and the words of a mysterious Apron Lady cheering him on, Casey swims the swim of his life.
