Canny Valley, properly known as College Valley in Northumberland is the setting of stories from the author's childhood. Mixing fact with fictional yarns, each tale carries words of intrigue and humour that will captivate the reader from the opening chapter. The dialect, which the author has craftily and carefully composed, is indicative of the Northumbrian area, and merely adds to the well-orchestrated prose. The story is situated around the Norths; David North narrates the tales from the eyes of a ten-year-old boy, relating to adventures, his family and his school life, some of which hold and element of truth from his youthful days. Despite growing up during the war, the author's words will engage the mind with an array of beautifully written stories, which allow the reader to visualise and capture each chapter as the plot unfolds.
