The night it happened...the night of the ball...there was blood all over my nightgown when they found me...I just wanted to run and never stop...I had to forget that night...I had to forget Victoria....
But lovely young Camilla could not forget Calderwood, though she had not been there since she was six. Nor, after her father's death, could she ignore the nightmare visions which haunted her, drawing her back to the gloomy Louisiana mansion of her childhood, driving her to learn how her mother, Victoria Calderwood Carlyle, had really died.
Yet Calderwood held menace for Camilla, and only handsome Kris Kincade, the neighboring planter, seemed glad of her return.
