The decades following World War II are lucrative for the Algie family and their Murray Valley winery. Their daughter, Amy, matures into a strong-willed and beautiful woman and, when she accepts a job offer in Sydney, she abandons her confidant and brother, Cade, who struggles to find his place in the world.
Amy diligently works her way up to professional success in the movie industry. Unfortunately, her parents make no secret of their wish for her to return home to help run the winery with her father and brothers.
Everything changes when a disheveled Cade turns up on Amy's doorstep, leaving her to realise he has been using drugs.
The 60's in Australia is a time of change, where young people openly question authority. It is a time of hippies, anti-war demonstrations, and rebellion, things Cade embraces.
The repercussions of a tragic revelation that has festered for years threatens the entire Algie clan and, as Amy becomes entwined within the complex family dynamics, she is haunted by events hidden in her past.
In this historical novel, children born into a prosperous Murray Valley winery must navigate through a challenging journey after one of them takes a downward spiral into the dark world of drugs. The blur between madness and reality obscures a truth too horrible to face.
