Kathryn Wilkes is left adrift when her job with her current employer comes to an end. An orphan with nowhere to go, she's intrigued by the idea of traveling to Prince Edward Island with an eccentric matchmaker named Mrs. Hazel Hughes, who promises that she'll love her new destiny.

Michael Hadderly has looked forward to marriage his whole adult life, and sending away for a mail-order bride seems just the thing for a busy Mountie to do.
