Blessings for the Animal Nations — David Abrams

The title, Blessings for the Animal Nations, refers to the fact that animals are a nation only different because of the number of legs and or appearance. Our companions become a part of our family, and their loss is no less than a human family member.

“We all come from the earth and without exception, we all return to the earth.”

“Dust to dust, ashes to ashes.”

Our animal companions are a safe love for us and allow us to love them unconditionally. The love we feel for our animal companions is as close as we will ever come to unconditional love as our companions love us unconditionally -- in spite of our shortcomings.

This love is probably as close as most of us will experience in our lifetimes, thereby getting a glimpse of the unconditional love our Creator has for us. As human beings, we generally love conditionally.
