"Rudolfo walked the streets of Florence, Italy, looking for a lovely lady. He last saw her on the Ponte Vecchio Bridge looking at jewelry. They meet by chance in a small cafe and spend a day together. When Francesca tells Rudolfo she has a daughter, sadness washes over him as he concludes she must be married. Once he finds out she is not married he promises her he will come to Minnesota to celebrate Thanksgiving with her and her daughter, Annie.

Francesca went to the airport to meet him, but he wasn't on the plane. She feels like a fool that she trusted another man after the heartache Annie's father had caused her. After several days she finds out what happened.

Rudolfo eventually comes to America and meets Francesca's lovely daughter and widowed mother. Two days before they travel to New York for Christmas, Annie is stalked in the grocery store by a woman. The trip came at the perfect time to get Annie out of state.

Rudolfo and Francesca marry in June and have two children of their own. They move to New York close by Rudolfo's sister's family, and travel to Florence for Rudolfo's business."""
