Barehanded Castaways — J. Allan Dunn

After being shipwrecked, nine average men of varying background finally reach land. With no tools, weapons, or supplies -- not even a pocketknife or a watch-crystal among them -- the castaways realize they can endure isolation only by working as a team and making ingenious use of their limited knowledge. But Nature's most hostile forces are arrayed against them, and when prolonged privation eventually drives one of the nine mad, their chances of survival are further diminished.
