A PbRJV short --- Lew Roycko is a lunar real estate developer on a business trip to Earth. A native of the moon, he is chosen as a company representative to discuss an expansion to new Martian colonies. He wishes his personal life was as easy to manage as his professional one.
On a walk around Denver, Roycko meets an interesting old man who leads a far different lifestyle. Can one old man and his stories change a life forever?
Chapter One --- Lew Roycko watched the big SG-7 shuttles take off and fleetingly wished he were on one of them. He wondered how many were bound for the dark side of the moon â€" to New Houston, where the shambles that had once been his life still moldered.
Earth was a strange place. He had only been here a few times in his life. His family could not afford to travel much when he was a child. He supposed he better get used to it. When he finally made that leap from middle management and into the big leagues, he would be spending a lot of time here.
This was a leap he was on the verge of making. After seven years of toiling away unnoticed at the lunar branch of Viking Developers Incorporated, he had finally been invited into the limelight. The company's annual Denver conference, which would begin the next day, would be his debut. The company executives were considering an expansion to the new Martian colonies. As the representative from the moon, and as a native of it, Roycko's technical expertise had come to the director's attention.
Not that lunar real estate was that much like Mars actually, Roycko had no idea how much, if anything, they had in common. But to a bunch of space station inhabitants and earthbounders, that did not really matter. Off-planet was off-planet.
