An Ugly Black Bird — Barbara Lawson

Shadow and Midnight were out and about frolicking in the yard, doing what dogs usually do, when all of a sudden Shadow stumbles upon a lost baby bird. Shadow picks up the little bird and promises to take care of her while they search for her family. Both dogs spend many days teaching the bird how to be a bird; after all it's not like she's going to grow up and be an ugly black bird. Shadow hates those ugly black birds.
