Giselle's protests were a waste of breath
The discussion was about to be unilaterally terminated. The wealthy Lebanese banker was appallingly arrogant, his attitude toward women cynical.
"I employ you and I'm the boss, " he told Giselle.
"I tell you what to do and you do it -- and I can fire you whenever I wish."
Put like that, Fayiz Davidian's proposition was an offer Giselle certainly ought to refuse-only she badly needed a well-paying job. Besides, since Fayiz obviously expected her to refuse, it was tempting to turn the tables on him....
