Psychologist Kate Snowden, who at the urging of her closest friend, Tom Lake, agrees to write an advice column for him. Lake just happens to be editor of the Chicago Tribune. Reluctantly Kate agrees, with one stipulation, her identity must be kept secret. Kate Snowden is quickly reborn under the alias of Suzanne Morgan, advice columnist. Unfortunately, Snowden gives an abused woman advice to leave her battering spouse, Craig Tate. The sly Tate is able to learn the identity of Morgan, and then begins a game of cat and mouse. After receiving many threats, Kate's suspicions run amuck from her orderly housekeeper, to her odd-acting client, Pete Monroe, who compulsively quotes famous movie lines. The cunning Tate is eventually able to trap the meddling columnist, and the frantic race to locate Kate before it is too late begins.
