He was on the verge of losing everything, his business, his apartment, his good credit. He had already lost his wife a year earlier in an auto accident. Having spent the last three weeks building a deck and brick pathway, the profit on this job was his only hope to buy more time until the economy improved. When the owner's wife, the shrew he had been working for, cheated him out of one third of the bid, his life and sanity began to unravel.
He didn't have the money for a lawyer to sue her. All he had left was a need for revenge, a need to teach her a lesson, to show her how it felt. After snatching her out of a supermarket parking lot, taking her to his remote cabin in the piney woods, he bound her wrists and ankles to a table in the spare bedroom under a harsh light, depriving her of food and drink, of her sense of control, of freedom to move, of the warmth of her clothes.
For both of them a metamorphosis began. Neither of them could have possibly known how this misdeed was about to change their destiny.
