David Heinzmann has covered crime for the Chicago Tribune for nearly a decade. He started his journalism career with the Associated Press in Baltimore and Atlanta and also worked at the Daily Southtown in Chicagoââ,¬â"¢s gritty south suburbs before joining the Tribune. Heinzmann grew up in rural Metamora, Ill., earned degrees from George Washington University and the University of Illinois, and lives in Oak Park, Ill., with his wife and two sons.
