David Heinzmann has covered crime for the Chicago Tribune for nearly a decade. He started his journalism career with the Associated Press in Baltimore and Atlanta and also worked at the Daily Southtown in Chicagoââ,¬â"¢s gritty south suburbs before joining the Tribune. He has appeared numerous times on national news outlets including CNN, National Public Radio, MSNBC, and NBCââ,¬â"¢s Dateline. Heinzmann grew up in rural Metamora, Ill., earned degrees from George Washington University and the University of Illinois, and lives in Oak Park, Ill., with his wife and two sons.
