HOTBED OF SUSPICION
Even before the young choir singer was found dead, rumors about illicit relationships had disrupted the peace at the beautiful Scottish church attended by Dr. Jean Montrose. The body, still warm, was discovered in a sleeping bag near the front pew, and his death looked like a plausible suicide. But Dr. Montrose's instincts told her it was murder--especially since the pathologist failed to find an obvious cause of death. Now it was up to Perth's Detective Inspector Douglas Niven to do most of the investigating of a bachelor minister and his suspected appetites; the victim's pretty mother and her lover; his doctor father, who was under threat of a malpractice suit; the lovestruck church secretary; and the secretive, foul-tempered organist. And soon Niven had a hunch who did it, but it was Dr. Montrose who uncovered the horrifying truth behind this mysterious death. It took her medical expertise and understanding of human nature to unravel the web of deadly deceit that drove someone to cold-blooded murder.
