A Taste of Treachery — Lesley Denny

Virgil Hart had joined the Diplomatic Corps, full of high ideals of spreading democracy. He is soon involved in American intervention in the Latin American state of Rosario, where President Medici rules with an iron hand. An attempt on the President's life starts an investigation by the CIA. After further assassination attempts, a group known as the Black Hundred is blamed. Believing them to be a branch of the CIA, Virgil becomes disillusioned.
