Just about everybody in the sleepy seaside town of Rainbow Bay knows Sam, the mailman. Maisie and Annie consider him a friend, as Maisie makes the best tea Sam has ever tasted, and every morning on his route he stops by to share a cup with the sisters. So, when he fails to turn up one morning, it's understandable that Maisie is upset—even more so when, after listening to the local gossip, Annie learns that Sam has died. But the more Annie hears, the more uneasy she becomes. She doesn't want to believe what she's thinking, but the ugly truth is lurking, and she can see no way to avoid it. Sooner or later, it's bound to come out, and when it does, it will shatter lives.
