Angela Keith, the society editor of the Adamstown Leader, had been plagued all day long by lost engagement photographs, cancelled weddings, and similar cosmic catastrophies. So it was almost a relief that her noon assignment should be an uneventful organizing luncheon of the Presidents' Club at the Manor, even though Millicent Prince who had insisted on the reporter's presence was somewhat of an irritant by nature.
The lunch went off as scheduled, even to the creamed tuna fish; then Angela realized that she had not ascertained the date of the next Club meeting with Millicent. So she went in search of her, and finally found her in the lime and magenta powder room--murdered.
It was a scoop for the Leader, of course, and a chance for Angela to work with police reporter Pete Lamb on the story of her career.
