Before Mr. Darcy can profess how ardently he loves and admires Elizabeth Bennet in Kent, Colonel Fitzwilliam reveals to the young lady the news that Darcy saved a dear friend from marrying the wrong woman. The colonel thinks perhaps it was Mr. Bingley and Elizabeth knows it must have been.
Hours later, Mr. Darcy proposes. She refuses him but the next day he meets her in the lane and gives her a letter before leaving abruptly for London.
When Elizabeth returns to Town, the letter has made all the difference in her feelings for Mr. Darcy but she cannot forgive him for the pain Jane suffers over the loss of Mr. Bingley. Can Colonel Fitzwilliam and Anne de Bourgh bring the obstinate lovers together again? Or will it take news from Brighton to help our dear couple see clearly they are the perfect match?
