Ballad of the D Bar 40
When her uncle let Marietta Dunbar take over the D Bar 40, it was on condition that she make a financial go of it. Unfortunately, the dude ranch was long on scenery and horses but short on guest, and Marietta knew why: not enough "romantic interest" for the mostly female clientele. To get some, she hired a cowboy crooner, "The Utah Yodeler" -- sight unseen, over the telephone. Luckily, the young man who got off at the railroad signal stop was tall, blond, very good-looking. She never dreamed he wasn't the real Utah, but concert singer Nels Cartel who, for reasons for his own, went along with the mix up. "Utah" was just what the ranch needed all right, but not, Marietta began to suspect, what he pretended to be. When she heard a police report of a "blond bandit" at large in the are, she was sure she was harboring a fugitive. But what really shocked her was that she was prepared to hide the "desperado" from the law!
