A Killing Life' is a First World War novel featuring Jonathan Edwards, lately out of university, joining, in 1916, Kitchener's war effort. Given the title of Second Lieutenant, and posted to France, he is immediately plunged into the horrific, degrading world of trench warfare . . . but then he is victim to a sadistic Colonel whose unreasonable orders draw him inexorably towards death.
