Marcy Dayton's trip to Paris had been captivating and stimulating, but now she was ready to return to Philadelphia and rejoin her widowed father, a judge, who seemed to be fearful of some sort of crisis which he did not define. She was hardly off the plane when, indeed, he was killed by a car, in an accident which did not seem accidental.
