A quaint expression that amused her... until she began to suspect that the lady had been murdered!

The Lady and the Detective...

It was Jock Adams who arranged for his daughter, Blair, to move into Hilltop, the chic San Francisco "boarding house" run by his distant cousin, Miss Alicia Crissington. And Blair had to admit that it wasn't a bad idea, because of the location: halfway between her brand-new doctor's office and the hospital where she would be spending most of her time. True, the other boarders were a good deal older than she was and a couple of them could be described as "eccentric," but they were harmless. Or so Blair thought until one of them was found dead in bed, smothered. An accident?

Blair knew it couldn't have been, that it had to be murder. So did Lt. Josh Miles of Homicide, the most exasperating and -- she hated to admit it -- attractive man Blair had ever met. but while Josh treated the glamorous "lady doc" with amused condescension, he didn't see anything funny about her situation at Hilltop, because it was obvious that the killer must kill again...
