SHE STOOD ALONE
Young, tall, tender, when Matthew Stoner came upon her in the blackness of the wilderness night. He helped her find her gentle, little brother. "Where we're going, nothing's gentle but the breeze," he warned her. Sarah Douglass believed him, and she was prepared to endure the hardship along the trail to Kentucky. She could climb the rugged mountains, ford the icy stream, face the savage Indians. But Sarah believed she would find more.
