Spending Christmas in a snowed-in country farmhouse cooking all the traditional seasonal food she loves sounds like a dream come true for travelling cook, Jenny Starling. Except that the family she is cooking for are hardly full of the Christmas spirit, with a rebellious teenage daughter just itching to run away and two resentful and fully-grown sons at loggerheads with their, quite frankly, appalling arrogant father. So when Jenny finds her (well-scrubbed) kitchen table suddenly playing host to a corpse with a knife in the chest, she is once more in the thick of things. And with the farmer accusing her of the deed, she had better get it sorted quickly and find the real killer. Especially since the assigned police officer isn't exactly jumping for joy at being handed his first murder case.
